Mia Zitella, MS

“There is no such thing as too much in therapy. Your story deserves to be heard in its entirety.”

Mia Zitella is a counselor who specializes in working with adult individuals navigating sexual assault, complex trauma, crisis, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and couples counseling. Her work is grounded in a survivor-centered, humanistic, and client-centered approach, meaning she prioritizes each client’s voice, autonomy, and lived experience. Mia believes therapy is a collaborative and deeply personal process, where clients are not “problems to be fixed,” but individuals whose experiences make sense within the context of their lives. She views people as inherently resilient and capable of growth, and strives to create a space where clients feel safe, heard, and empowered in their healing.

Mia is known for her warm, genuine, and down-to-earth presence, bringing both compassion and honesty into the room. She values real connection and authenticity, and works to create an environment where clients can show up exactly as they are, without fear of judgment. She also believes therapy doesn’t have to feel cold or clinical to be effective, and that real healing often happens in spaces where clients feel comfortable being fully themselves, even in the messiest or most difficult moments. There is no such thing as “too much” in her sessions, and she welcomes honesty, complexity, and the parts of clients that may feel hard to share elsewhere.

Former clients often describe Mia as easy to connect with, supportive, and grounding, while also appreciating her ability to gently challenge them in ways that promote growth and insight. She believes healing happens through trust, openness, and feeling truly understood, and she is deeply committed to helping clients feel less alone and more in control of their experiences.
