Basma Outhman, LSW

Therapist | Trauma-Informed | Culturally Grounded | Holistically Minded

Relationships are the agents of change and the most powerful therapy is human love” Bruce Perry

Basma Outhman believes therapy should be a place where growth meets real life. She works with young adults and adults (ages 17–35) to navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and the twists and turns of major life transitions—whether it’s starting college, changing careers, or figuring out who you want to be in the world.

Blending evidence-based approaches like CBT, ACT, and IFS with a holistic lens, Basma focuses on the whole person—the thoughts, emotions, relationships, and cultural contexts that shape your experience. She loves giving clients practical tools to use outside of sessions, while also exploring deeper layers of identity, self-esteem, and empowerment.

Grounded in the belief that every individual holds so much potential, Basma sees therapy as a process of building healthy foundations that allow clients to unlock and fully step into that potential.

She creates a space that’s warm, supportive, and even a little playful—finding moments to laugh while tackling life’s challenges. Her diverse background and upbringing allow her to relate to a wide range of experiences, helping clients feel understood, seen, and connected to the shared human journey.

Basma specializes in supporting:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Adjustment and life transitions

  • College and career changes

  • Self-esteem, self-image, and empowerment

  • Navigating cultural differences

She earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
